Frequently asked questions

A few answers about Webooking, our editorial choices and our apparently incurable affection for a good directory.

A directory? In this century?

Yes. We checked the calendar. Finding a million results is easy; finding a few useful places to start can take longer. We still like the idea of people choosing helpful websites and putting them somewhere sensible. Old-fashioned? Possibly. Useful? That is the plan.

Who chooses the links?

Our editorial team. Every editorial review is carried out by a human, including decisions about new links, corrections and updates. We look for resources that belong in their category and offer something useful to readers. Someone has to do the clicking.

Can I submit my website?

No, sorry. Years of unsolicited pitches and spam have cured us of the open submissions box. We choose the websites we share ourselves. Please do not use the contact form to request a listing, even if your message begins with “This is not spam”. We have met that sentence before.

Why are some categories so small?

During the rebuild, we removed many old or questionable links. We would rather have a short, useful list than a crowded collection of regrets. We are rebuilding the directory gradually, so some shelves are still waiting for their books.

A link is broken. Should I alert UNESCO?

Our contact form will do. Send us the address of the Webooking page and a short explanation of the problem. Broken links and outdated information are useful things to report. Websites change, and a human-curated directory still needs humans to notice when something has gone sideways.

If this is about Italy, why is Malta here?

Malta has its own branch in Webooking, and we have kept it as a separate collection. The general categories focus exclusively on Italy; resources about Malta and Gozo belong under Malta. Geography has not changed. We just have two clearly labelled shelves.

Can I contact you about something else?

Of course. Use the contact form for a thoughtful message to the editorial team. Questions, corrections and a civil difference of opinion are welcome. Website submissions and promotional messages are not. Leave your email if you would like us to be able to reply.
